He is considered as one of the best film directors in the Indian Cinema. He predominantly worked in Telugu Cinema and directed ten movies. He is known for directing blockbuster movies like Baahubali and his career doesn’t have any failures till date. His creative work is impeccable and unique in his own way.
He is the receiver of National Film Award, State Award and two film fare awards for his craft. He was honored with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honor, for his contributions towards the field of Art. He is also winner of “Indian of the year 2015 in entertainment” by CNN-News.
He is S. S. Rajamouli.
We read and watched his interviews extensively and came up with these six success traits that anyone can apply to become better in their crafts.
Passionate story teller
Passion is always the starting point of successful people. “I have spent my life doing what I love doing. I am a very passionate story teller and I used to tell stories in my school class to see my classmates astonishing expressions. And I just love it.” says Rajamouli. “No one knows how to make a successful film. So it’s always better to do something that is exciting to you.”
Most of his family members are into films. “My entry into the film industry was easy. But I worked like hell whenever the opportunity has come my way. In my early days, I used to work 18 hours when I was directing TV series.” His mentor, K. Raghavendra Rao, used to call him “Work Devil”. If you don’t believe, look at his long ever growing beard :).
Push out of your comfort zone
In one of his interview he mentioned “My dream is to make a film on Mahabharata. But I don’t have enough experience to turn my imagination into reality. I always push myself to turn my imagination into reality by understanding, learning and leveraging existing technology to the fullest. This would eventually help me to fulfil my dream.” Push through shyness and self doubt. Always push out of your comfort zone.
In 2015, The first part of the epic historical fiction, Baahubali: The Beginning became the highest grossing Indian film within India, and became the third highest grossing Indian film globally. The results sound fantastic, but it’s impossible without 3 years of his focus and hard work. You must be single-minded. Singleness of purpose is one of the chief essentials for success.
SS Rajamouli is known for making movies for longer period. But during that period he keeps on improving the movie scenes. Because he never gets satisfied. As Pete Draper(Division Head, Makuta VFX) said, “Impressing Rajamouli is not an easy task. But at the end, we have learned a lot from him.”
“During Baahubali last schedule, the teams were loosing their sanity. I could see the energy levels were dipping down. But my camera man, K. K. Senthil Kumar, told me that they draw energy from me.” says Rajamouli. This is pure perseverance. This quality is one of the most essential traits of any successful person in the history.
That’s all folks. Thank you for your time. Please like, comment and share.
